The Board consists of between seven and fifteen members coming from at least six different countries. Board members are elected from and by the full members, and are appointed for six years. The executive committee is responsible for the day-to-day running of the EFRJ, and is composed of the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.
Tim (Northern Ireland, UK) is a visiting lecturer at the University of Ulster teaching on the Masters programme in restorative practices. He has contributed to the development of restorative conferencing in both the voluntary and statutory sectors in Northern Ireland, where he spent 25 years working in the probation service. He played an active part in developing effective practice in the UK particularly through the publication of ‘Evidence Based Practice’, written jointly with Michael Hough and published by the Home Office. His ‘Time to Grow’ model for the supervision of young people has influenced youth justice practices especially in Scotland. He has published widely on restorative justice and effective practice and has conducted significant research into restorative justice in Northern Ireland including the project ‘ALTERNATIVE’. Since 2012, he is a EFRJ Board member, responsible for the Forum 15 project (2015) and chair of the Board (2016).

Annemieke (The Netherlands) is an independent researcher, trainer and mediator in the field of human rights, children’s rights and restorative justice in Utrecht. She worked as senior researcher at the Verwey-Jonker Institute, the Open University and at Defence for Children International. She also contributed to several EU-funded projects, including ‘Accessibility and Initiation of Restorative Justice‘ and ‘Restorative Justice in cases of Domestic Violence‘. She holds a PhD in restorative justice and children’s rights. Since 2010, she is part of the EFRJ Board, currently in the role of vice-chair (Executive Committee).

Bruna (originally from Albania) obtained her PhD at the KU Leuven Institute of Criminology in 2016, where she worked on several EU-funded projects such as ‘ALTERNATIVE’ and ‘Family mediation in cases of international child abduction’. She has been working for two years in the EFRJ on the project ‘Building social support for restorative justice’, which investigated ways to work with the media, civil society and citizens in the area of restorative justice. She has studied Psychology in the University of Bosphorus in Istanbul, Gender Studies in the Central European University in Budapest and Cultural Studies in Bilgi University in Istanbul. Before coming to Leuven, she has lectured at the University of New York in Tirana and worked in the Albanian Foundation for Conflict Resolution. She is the Secretary of the EFRJ Board since 2016 (Executive Committee), responsible also for the EFRJ Newsletter and the EFRJ Conference in Tirana 2018.

Bart (Belgium) works as a professor social work and security at the Avans University of Applied Studies (The Netherlands). In 2012, he obtained a PhD in criminology at the University of Brussels. For his doctoral research he did an ethnographic research on restorative justice practices in a Belgian maximum security prison. He worked as a victim-offender mediator at the Flemish organisation Moderator (Forum for restorative justice and mediation) and as a postdoctoral researcher on Social Work at the Erasmus University College Brussels. He is a EFRJ Board member since 2008. In 2015 he joined the Centre for Criminological Research, School of Law at the University of Sheffield on a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship. This European research project focused on the relation between desistance from crime and restorative justice practices in prisons in Belgium and England and Wales. He is a EFRJ Board member and Treasurer (Executive Committee) since 2016.

Roberto (Basque country, Spain) is the Responsible officer for justice and prisoners at the Basque Ombudsman Office. He has a law degree from Deusto University in Bilbao and Master Degree in advocacy and legal advisory. In the past 11 years, he had experience in coordinating the Victim-Offender Mediation services, the Victim Support Services and the Probation Services of the Basque Government. Patrizia (Sardinia, Italy), psychologist and psychotherapist, is full professor of Social Psychology, Psychology and Law and Restorative Justice at the University of Sassari. She was an expert counsellor for the Italian juvenile justice system and she is an expert trainer for professionals working in the Italian penitentiary system. In 2014 she started in Nuchis- Tempio Pausania, the first research action program on designing a local community intervention based on restorative justice practices. The program has been developed with the support of Gian Luigi Lepri and it is named: ‘Study and analysis of the restorative practices for the creation of a model of a restorative city – Information System and Governance of intervention policies and contrast of crime in Sardinia’. In this action research context, the team developed a model of community named ‘Co.Re – community of restorative relationship’. In 2015 she established the Restorative Service (help centre for victims) in the University of Sassari. Katerina (Greece) is a PhD candidate at Aix-Marseille University and her academic research in France is focused on RJ from a maximalist perspective (you can watch here the presentation of her research in French, during the competition “Ma Thèse en 180 sec“). She has studied Law in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and in 2015 she obtained her Master degree on Criminal Sciences from the Aix-Marseille University. During 2013-2014 she worked as a volunteer on the European project CLAIM (Child Law: Action for an Innovative Methodology) in Athens. For the period 2017-2018 she was a Board member of the French Association Genepi that works on prison issues and she has been the volunteer animator of workshops on “Theater and Greek tragedies” for the female prisoners at the Baumettes Prison (Marseille). In 2018 she was awarded a scholarship from the French Ambassador in Brazil in the frame of the program REFEB (Réseau français d’études brésiliennes). She is a EFRJ member since 2015.
