The EFRJ is looking for a part-time Project Officer to join the Secretariat in Leuven, Belgium.

Our new colleague will work for a new 2 years project on (LGBT) hate crime and restorative justice. The project aims at protecting and defending the rights of victims of anti-LGBT hate crimes through exploring and applying restorative justice.

The project starts on January 2020.

Call for proposals – RJ Award 2020!

Submit your personal proposal for the European Restorative Justice Award 2020!

 

Since 2010 the EFRJ confers the European Restorative Justice Award. This prestigious price is dedicated to recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions by individuals, groups or organizations, to the development and strengthening of restorative justice within Europe. Worthy of dedication can be any significant contribution, either in theoretical, practical, empirical, political or ideational respect.

The Award is granted biannually and announced during the international conferences of the EFRJ. Laureates are nominated by the Board of the EFRJ upon proposals submitted by the EFRJ membership. The award is unremunerated.

Award holders from previous years are Ivo Aertsen, Belgium (2010), Martin Wright, UK (2012), Christa Pelikan, Austria (2014), John Blad, the Netherlands (2016) and Borbala Fellegi & Foresee research Group, Hungary (2018).

You are invited to submit your personal proposal for the 2020 Award, which will be handed over at the forthcoming conference in Sassari, Italy (25-27 June 2020). Proposals can be submitted by individual members and/or by one individual representing an organizational member (find here more info on the EFRJ membership). One person can submit one or more proposals. The candidate proposed for the Award does not necessarily need to be a EFRJ member. Please explain the reasons for the nomination.

Please submit your proposal using the online form below. Deadline for submission is Monday 17 February 2020 (midnight). If you have any questions about the Award, please contact the EFRJ Secretariat.

The Board will take its decision in Spring 2020, but the Award holder will be announced only next June in Sassari during the 11th international EFRJ conference.

Registration fees – EFRJ conference Sassari 2020

As usual, EFRJ members are entitled to a special discount for attending our events! If you are not a member yet and you wish to register at the reduced rate, you are invited to join our EFRJ community now! In order to benefit from the reduced registration fee, you must submit your membership application form before the conference registration form.

The deadline to register to the EFRJ Conference is 25 May 2020 (Early-bird fee: 1 April). The registration fee includes:

  • Participation fee and materials for the 3-day conference
  • Reception and 2020 European RJ Award ceremony
  • Lunches, coffee breaks during the whole conference
  • Social dinner
  • One local field visit

*Organisational members can register up to 5 employees at the reduced fee.

**Students below 27 years old who are members of the EFRJ since 2019 or earlier can benefit of a special fee. First comes, first served- policy applies for maximum 10 students (until 1 April)!

 

Waivers: The EFRJ will grant about 5 (full/ partial) waivers to participants for whom it is financially difficult to attend the Conference. Applicants must be members of the EFRJ since at least 2019. Full waivers cover the full registration fee; partial waivers will cover about half registration fee. Transports and accommodation are not covered by the waivers. The deadline to submit a waiver request is 1 March 2020. The main criteria for the selection are: experience, profession, motivation, and country representation. We will evaluate each request and inform you about the results within two weeks after the deadline. In case of negative response, the early-bird fee applies.

Cancellation policy: If you cancel your registration to the Conference before 1 April 2020, you will receive a refund of 70% of your registration fee. After this date, reimbursement is no longer possible.

 

PRE-CONFERENCE TRAINING COURSE

In addition to the EFRJ Conference, participants can register to the training course “Restorative practices beyond borders”. Please note that the training course is reserved only to conference’s participants and it is offered as a full conference package. Registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis until 25 May (up to maximum 25 participants).

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Registrations open by the end of January 2020, when we launch the new EFRJ website. Please note that the registration is complete only once the payment is received. Online payment (e.g. via credit card, PayPal, iDeal, Bancontact) is charged an additional 10 euros; your payment will be processed by the secure online payment provider Mollie. If you wish to pay via bank transfer, please use the bank details below (subject line: Sassari 2020 + Your Full Name) and make the payment within 3 working days after your registration. In case of international payments, please indicate ‘Shared Costs (SHA)’ to distribute the costs.

Last call! Propose your topic for Sassari 2020!

The call for proposals to actively participate in the programme of the 11th international EFRJ conference is open until 10 December!!!

We received more than 100 proposals in the past months on innovative and inspiring topics connecting restorative justice to space, time, language and narratives. Among others, restorative justice and decolonisation, mental health, transitional justice, children rights, education, sexual violence, environmental harm, drug addiction, polarisation, music, arts, civil disobedience, etc.

Some of you contacted the EFRJ Secretariat and asked for some additional time to reflect on how to contribute to the topic “Justice beyond borders“. So please go ahead, but please respect this last deadline!

ERJPN – 2nd meeting

The European RJ Policy Network (ERJPN) will have its 2nd meeting in Leuven on 29 November 2019 (09.15-16.00; registrations open at 9.00) in Leuven, Belgium (address: Augustinessenklooster – Romaanse Poort, Brusselsestraat 63, room A06).

On the afternoon of Thursday 28 November, we organise an optional study visit to the Leuven Restorative City project (17.00-18.30) and a social dinner (20.00). The provisional agenda has been sent to you alongside with this registration form.

Please register below to attend the meeting. The deadline for registration is Thursday 31 October. The form includes also questions on your preference of topics for discussion and training needs in your country. It will take you less than 5 minutes to register.

If your trip to Leuven is longer than 100km, we will book you a hotel room at Ibis Leuven Centrum, Brusselsestraat 52 in Leuven (on 28 November). Also, the EFRJ will cover your travel costs (up to 250 EUR): please book your trip and keep all documents (e.g. reservation, boarding passes, tickets) for the reimbursement. Please, note that we can cover the costs only to those participants that are coming from eligible countries of the EC Justice Programme (EU MSs + Albania, Montenegro, with the exception of the UK and Denmark).
