Travel information

Queen’s University Belfast is situated on University Road, about one mile from Belfast city centre and is easily accessible by bus, train or on foot. To get to Queen’s University, the following information may be useful.
By air
Belfast is easily reached from either Belfast International Airport or the George Best Belfast City Airport.

Belfast International Airport (BFS) at Aldergrove is situated about 20 miles from the city centre. The Airport Express 300 service operates a 24 hour service between the airport and Belfast with buses departing every 10 minutes throughout the day. The bus leaves from the bus stop located opposite the terminal exit. Approximate journey time is 30-40 minutes subject to traffic conditions and costs £7.50 single and £10.50 return. A taxi to the University will cost approximately £30.00.

Belfast City Airport (BHD) is situated approximately three miles from the city centre. A taxi to the University will cost approximately £10.00. The Airport Express 600 departs from outside the Airport every 20 minutes from early morning to late evening and costs approximately £2.40 single and £3.60 return; it terminates at the Great Victoria Street (Europa) Bus Station.

Dublin Airport is approximately 100 miles from Queen’s University Belfast. The direct journey by bus takes approximately 1 hour 50 minutes. Bus Eireann and Ulsterbus operate a 24 hour service between Dublin Airport and Belfast (Great Victoria Street (Europa) Bus Station) and costs £8.00 single and £16.00 return, if purchased online.

By sea
Belfast is easy accessed by sea crossing from Great Britain by ferry. The following operators run ferries across the Irish Sea:

Larne-Cairnryan: P&O European Ferries

By train
The closest train station to Queen’s University Belfast is Botanic Railway Station. Located on Botanic Avenue, it is 5-10 minutes walking distance from the main university site. The station is served by Northern Ireland Railways

By bus
Queen’s University Belfast is served by the local Belfast bus network, known as Metro. There are bus stops located at the front of Queen’s on University Road and at the rear of the main site on University Avenue and College Park East. By taxi
Belfast is served by both public and private hire taxis. Public hire taxis can be hailed from the street or from dedicated taxi ranks. Private hire taxis must be booked in advance. By car
Parking at Queen’s University and the area around it is severely limited during the academic year. It is advisable that those seeking to travel by car utilise the various secure car parking facilities in Belfast city centre and avail of public transport to reach Queen’s University.
