The 2018 edition of the National Prison Days will take place across Belgium between 16 November and 1 December. This year’s theme is: “What is the (real) use of prisons?”. As the international RJ Week was born from the UK’s Prisoners’ Sunday in 1975, many initiative RJ- and prison-related take place exactly on the same days.
In Belgium, the National Prison Days aim at contributing to raise awareness about the Belgian prison situation in order to change the penal and penitentiary policies so that they are more respectful of the rights of the people and more coherent with respect to the social implication of incarceration.
