Since the adoption of the UN Basic principles on restorative justice in 2002 the field has considerably evolved and developed. Recognising this development the ECOSOC initiated few years ago the review of the Basic principles and of the UN Handbook on Restorative Justice Programmes.
Our Tim Chapman, Annemieke Wolthuis and Edit Törzs, as well as many EFRJ members, are now participating on a 3 days Expert Group Meeting conveyed by the UNODC – United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, with the support of the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) in Bangkok (17-19 June) reviewing a new draft of the Handbook, putting more focus on victims, serious crime and indigenous justice.
