Netherlands- RJN Newsflash

Our organisational member Restorative Justice Nederland launched a Newsflash to announce the start of the RJ Week 2018.

The Newsflash contains three topics:

• New is the development of a national Restorative Justice Academy, containing training and courses on RJ for professionals and others interested ones. The RJ Academy will be officially launched on 22 March 2019.

• Restorative Justice Nederland and the University of Maastricht launched a revised version of a new law proposal on RJ that can be included in the new Criminal Procedural Code. The Dutch Minister for Legal Protection received a copy and reacted officially and positively in June 2018. He embraces RJ and will negotiate with all partners in the field. An English version of the Law Proposal is now available (contact details below).

• Attention is given to the adoption on 3 October 2018 of revised Recommendation of Recommendation CM/Rec(2018)8 concerning restorative justice in criminal matters, which broadens up the scope for more restorative practices.

In addition the RJN team will pay attention on RJ week by distributing the EFRJ postcards and talking to students and professionals in different platforms.
