On 10-13 February 2019 the first winter school in restorative justice was held in Rome for Caritas volunteers and operators. Italian Caritas training area promoted the event. It involved Caritas operators of all the national territory. It was organized in collaboration with PsicoIus Roman School of Psychology and Law and by the Team of Restorative Justice Practices of the University of Sassari, led by Board member Patrizia Patrizi, which elaborated training content and methodology based on the most recent developments in restorative justice and with the orientations of the EFRJ.
Patrizia Patrizi and Gian Luigi Lepri were the facilitators present for the entire duration. The president of EFRJ, Tim Chapman presentd, and Ernesto Lodi has intervened for the Team of Restorative Justice Practices. Both participants and promoters assessed very positively the training. At the end of the course a detailed report was prepared (for the participants) and a summary report was distributed to all Italian Caritas organizations. An article was delivered on the paradigm, values, programs and practices of restorative justice.
On 13-16 October a monitoring process will be carried out for the development of projects inspired by restorative justice in the territorial realities involved.
The second edition of the winter school is already planned for February 2020. Patrizia Patrizi, Gian Luigi Lepri and Ernesto Lodi are also involved in local training courses, specifically in Fossano, in Prato, in Velletri.
