If you had the chance to watch the film ‘A Conversation’, you may remember John, the facilitator, and his controversial role in the play portraying the meeting between two families affected by the rape and murder of a young girl.
The real ‘John’ will be in Oslo for a mini-workshops on basic skills for facilitating a mediation and conference in such cases. John McDonald is a mediator from Australia, who cooperated with an artistic director to bring together this real story in a theatre play, and finally played his own role (modified for artistic reasons) on the stage.
Indeed, the original theatre play is based on real cases from Australia. The artistic director Peter Harris (UK) adapted the play to a European context; the amateur actors from No Theatre (Norway) played it for several years before it was filmed by a crew directed by Oddbjørn Austevik (Norway). The EFRJ membership contributed to the making of the 15 subtitles and organised almost 70 screenings across Europe and beyond on the occasion of the international RJ Week 2017 (19-26 November).
On 3 March, John will be in Oslo, invited by the coordinator of No Theatre Siw Risøy and EFRJ member Espen Foss. Download here the invitation to this event and contact Siw for more info.
