The Ministry of Justice in Catalonia is celebrating the international RJ Week 2019!
On 22 November in Barcelona, the restorative justice schemes of the Ministry of Justice in Catalonia have organised a seminar which will explore how restorative justice works as both, an alternative and a complement to the justice process. It is meant to highlight the traits that make a justice model more humane and participatory for the victim, the offender and the community affected by the offence.
The seminar will start by a presentation by Prof. Josep M. Tamarit who will introduce the basic principles of restorative justice, its development and how it has been implemented. It will then be followed by a debate between conventional justice and restorative justice brought to life by two different characters played by two experts. After the break, it will be the time to watch a live performance on how a restorative conference and mediation process are conducted. Finally, actual participants of restorative processes will share their experience with the audience. This seminar is therefore a dynamic and engaging way for understanding and experiencing the restorative justice paradigm which is steadily gaining support and enlarging its scope.
The seminar will take place in the Centre for Legal Studies and Specialised Training in Barcelona and will be in Catalan (you may download here the programme in English)
