Another special occasion for celebrating the international RJ Week 2019!
On 15 November in Dublin, the Portuguese Association for Victim Support (APAV) and the Institute of Social Reinsertion of Basque Country (IRSE-EBI), both members of the EFRJ, participate in a roundtable on victims’ rights and the role of the prosecutor. Within this one day event, a 1,5 session will be dedicated to RJ, entitled “The role of Victim Support Services in Restorative Justice initiatives”.
The video “The Victim Support Service of Basque Government, a tool of Restorative Justice”, published in 2016 by the Department of Justice of the Basque Government and the IRSE-EBI, will be screened. Afterwards, representatives from APAV and IRSE-EBI will discuss the role of victim support services as RJ tools.
The Irish perspective on procedural safeguards in RJ before and after the Victims Rights’ Act will be debated by Ursula Fernee from the Irish Probation Service and a VRA representative, also member of the European RJ Policy Network.
The event organised by the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICLL) and hosted by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (address: Green Street, Dublin 7). It takes place in the context of PRO VICTIMS: The role of the prosecutor in promoting the rights of victims, a European project co-financed by the Justice Programme of the European Commission, coordinated by APAV in collaboration with the Portuguese Office of the Attorney General, the Center for Research in Criminal Law and Criminal Sciences of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, the Basque IRSE-EBI, the Irish ICCL and White Circle of Croatia.
