Switzerland #RJWeek Film Screening ‘A Conversation’

22/11/2017 @ 16:00 - 18:00

swissThe Swiss Restorative Justice Forum is organising the film screening of ‘A Conversation’ as part of its board meeting on 22 November at the faculté de droit (law faculty) of the Université of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. The event is one among many others taking place on the occasion of the international #RJWeek.

The event is organised by the president of the Swiss Forum, Claudia Christen Schneider (member of the EFRJ working group on values and standards for RJ) and Professor André Kuhn, member of the Swiss RJ Forum and of the EFRJ. Thanks to this collaboration, the event will take place within the law faculty at the university of Neuchâtel.

The members of the Board will view the film together and will discuss its various aspects. The intention was first to invite AJURES, Association pour la justice restaurative en Suisse, but this was finally not possible because of language issues (some members of the Swiss forum only speak German whereas some members of AJURES only speak French).

The website of the Swiss forum is www.swissrjforum.ch. You can contact Catherine (member of the EFRJ editorial committee) for more information on this event: [email protected].

News after the event!!

The Committee of the Swiss Forum for restorative Justice and a member of AJURES (Association suisse pour la justice restaurative which we invited for the occasion) viewed A Conversation on 22 November at Neuchâtel University. We were touched and impressed by the courage of both families, the intensity of their feelings and eventually the strength of their dialogue. We looked for some turning points in their discussion:
– the recognition of the suffering experienced by the members of both families and by the therapist,
– the expression of their guilt.
These turning points gradually brought everyone closer to their true emotions (whereas, at the beginning of the encounter, the participants tended to use stereotyped sentences).
Indeed the film is an excellent basis for further discussions (preparation of the encounter, role of the mediator, opportunity of a free discussion between participants after the mediator has left the room, etc.).
