The Confederation of European Probation (CEP)* and the Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic (who will be celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2015) will jointly organise a conference on the use of RJ during probation, the use of mediation between offender and victim during the criminal proceeding and counselling, and the support and cooperation for the victim within the probation service (23-25 September 2015 in Prague, Czech Republic).

The CEP conference’s theme is related to one of the latest EU-funded projects coordinated by the EFRJ between 2012 and 2014, entitled ‘Desistance and Restorative Justice: mechanisms for desisting from crime within restorative justice practices‘. Its research coordinator, Dr Katrien Lauwaert, will participate in this conference to present her research findings.
Also the EFRJ vice-chair, Ms. Annemieke Wolthuis, will present during the CEP conference on the restorative justice and domestic violence. The research theme is part of the EU funded project coordinated by the Verwey Jonker Instituut (The Netherlands), where the EFRJ is one of the partners (‘Restorative Justice in cases of domestic violence: Best practice examples between increasing mutual understanding and awareness of specific protection needs‘).
Also Prof. Ivo Aertsen, one of the founders of the EFRJ, will present on ‘The role of the community in probation and restorative justice: opportunities and challenges’.
